Hi,
LabVIEW Real-Time is not supported on the dual core, dual processor PXI controllers or dual processor desktop PCs. Even though ETS should work on these dual core / processor systems, it will not use both cores/processors. In addition LabVIEW Real-Time is not supported on the PXI Express controllers.
To configure your 8106 into RT, make sure you have a LabVIEW or CVI Real-Time Module version that will support the PXI-8106RT. The PXI-8106 RT Controller supports only version 8.2 and higher of the LabVIEW Real-Time Module and version 8.1 and higher of the LabWindows/CVI Real-Time Module.
LabVIEW RT 8.2.1 includes support for the PXI-8106. If you have LabVIEW RT 8.2.0, you will need to install the RT Target CD 2.1 software on your host machine to add support for the PXI-8106 to LabVIEW RT (contact your ISR to request this CD).
Next you need to make sure that your host machine includes driver support for the PXI-8106. The February 2007 Device Drivers CD contains the drivers that are ensured to support the PXI-8106, however if this is not available, or if not all drivers are needed, install the following driver versions with RT support on your host:
Here are the directions as to how to make your PXI system dual boot.
I hope this helps,

Thanks Nadim for the reply.
I have a PXI-8105 controller which I would like to convert to RT. I would like to know whether the procedure that you explained will work for PXI-8105 controller. Also PXI-8105, there is no RT boot option in BIOS and the dip switch also doesn't have any effect.

The PXI-8105 is not supported as an RT controller, hence the lack of dip-switches and BIOS support. You may be able to boot the 8105 as an RT controller using a USB key created in MAX. Note that you are required to purchase an RT deployment license.

Hi Gerardo,
In MAX, the only USB 'RT disk utility 'option available is the ' Create Desktop PC Utility USB Drive'. Are you referring to this option?

Hi,
Have a look at this DF that talks about creating a USB key for RT. Specifically speaking, here is a KB that talks about booting a PXI system from a USB key.
I hope this helps,

Hi Nadim,
Can you repost the DF link to 'creating a USB key'. The previous link points to this thread.
Thanks a lot.
