Hi,
I have a realtime control application, for which I want to run 2 x PXI chassis. Chassis1 with a RT controller, Chassis2 with just additional IO, controlled by Chassis1.
I want this system to run headless (no PC), and the 2 PXI chassis are separated by > 10m.
In order to make the link between the 2 chassis & allow deterministic behaviour, I think I have just 2 options:
1) run MXI copper and a 3rd PXI chassis, just to act as a repeater between the 2 main chassis
2) run MXI fibre. I think I can't use a PXIe-8375 as it would replace the RT controller. Would a PXI-8336 work? (1 in each PXI chassis)
Are there any other options which may work that I haven't considered?
Thanks in advance,
Graham.

If you use PXI express chassis, https://www.ni.com/en-us/support/model.pxi-8360.html is your option. If you use PXI chassis, https://www.ni.com/en-us/support/model.pxi-8368.html is your option.

Thanks for the reply. I think that lines up with what I'd found,
PXIe copper is too short, PXIe fibre doens't allow me to keep a RT controller.
PXI copper is too short, PXI fibre looks to only require a "normal" slot, but the manual seems to indicate it does need a controller slot.
Reflective memory was my final choice. It comes with a requirement to put a controller in the 2nd PXI chassis, but I think that's the least compromise and likely as not will come in useful.
