Hello all,
I have been trying to install NI's RTOS on a desktop ETS system. The system passed the ETS requirements and contains a SATA drive formatted to FAT32. Installing RTOS on a SATA drive has been anything but easy, considering installing it on a PATA is quite simple. One of the requirements from the Desktop ETS RTOS Requirements page is that the drive be able to have AHCI enabled. This does not seem to matter if I have the SATA operate in AHCI mode, Legacy IDE mode, Native IDE mode, or standard. The error occurs when I try to perform the format disk utility from a floppy disk (created in MAX). I cannot use the USB. Neither NI or I know why, but USB is NOT an option to install the RTOS. Therefore I am stuck with the old technology. That being said the error that I get is the following:
Warning kernel.346531: Floppy I/O Error: Drive Not Ready
This shows up after the diskette formats my hard drive and while the step "Copying hdmon.bin". After this the install fails due to the fact that the file was not copied and the RTOS cannot find the file. Another peculiar thing is that this error causes my floppy drive to erase what is on the floppy diskette. This is quite frustrating considering every option I try I have to have another format floppy to test with. I am not sure if it is the floppy's fault or if its some setting I have to set with the hard drive. Either way, any help woud be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello, Thank you for the response.
1. I am currently using Labview 2009. When I make the format disk floppy in Max, the version is 8.5.1 because NI is not supporting the newer version of LabVIEW RTOS install on a floppy disk.
2. When a usb is used, I currently get an error referring to the OHCI Host for the USB. I was in contact with NI about this issue roughly 6 months ago and there was not a conclusion that fixed the problem. So we switched over to the floppy install. They had us try many different things to fix the OHCI but none actually solved the problem and I will discuss them if need be.
3. All of the usbs and floppy disks created in MAX created without error. So the problem doesn't seem to be with the creation of the disks.
4. See number two regarding this topic.
Thank you again and let me know if you need anymore information.

It sounds like there is somethign wrong with the floppy disk you are using. Have you tried different disks? Also, what is the motherboard you are using for your RTPC? Is there a firmware update that is available? If there is a porblem with the OHCI Host it could be stemmed from an outdated firmware for the USB controller.
-Try a new floppy disk
-Try updating your firmware for your motherboard and try the USB option.
