How do I gate the output of a PXI-5422 AWG?

I'm generating a simple sine wave that is synchronised to an external clock.  I want to gate the output with an external signal with an arbitrary duty cycle - any ideas?  (Apart from using an external tri-state buffer!).

I'm new to the instruments so I'm hoping there's an obvioius answer.  I can see that you can name waveforms and allocate

Hi steveMAX,

You said you want to gate the output.

Did you want to gate the sine wave being outputted from the card using an external signal? Or gate the external signal using the outputted sine wave?

Kind Regards

Hi,

I've managed to move on a since the posting...

I'm now generating a Arbitrary Sequence (a sine wave of a given frequency) which is output on receipt of an external trigger via PFI 0 - so mission accomplished. It turns out my main problem was with the quality of the signals I was using for the external ref clock and trigger...

What I couldn't figure out how to do was to set up a continuous output which could be triggered on and off by an external signal (I haven't tried this since changing my external sources though....).

The NI PXI 5422 has a digital trigger. You can use that for your cause.
