How do I reset communications between my MXI-4 PCI card and my PXI-1031 chassis after cycling power

Hi,

I have a MXI-4 PCI card connected to a PXI-1031 Chassis.  I have a simple question.  When cycling power to the PXI-1031 chassis after installing a new card, I loose communications with the MXI-4 card in my PC.  Is there a way to reset communications between the devices other then re-booting my PC?

NI does not support that, but look for 3rd parties solutions... Bustec has a hot-pluggable solution for VXI - ProDAQ 3030.

Hello yoyoblaster,

National Instruments PXI chassis are not hot swappable. When you add a new card, you must restart you computer so that it can detect the cards in the chassis during boot up. So, you must restart your computer to re-establish communication.
