I need to know how to allow members of the 'Users' group (Windows XP) to be able to update device drivers when a new module is detected in an attached PXI chassis. Right now the user logs in and gets message that new hardware is detected, but the user does not have permission to install the driver; only users with admin privileges can do this.
It's vital that new modules be detected (ie. driver updated) so that the user can configure MAX before running the test application. Granting all users admin privileges is not acceptable.
Thanks

Dear ksw,
There is no way to do that as far as I know.
That would be a question to ask microsoft.
Anything you see under Control Panel»All Users would be the limitation that you can give users.

This can be solved with a software installation / desktop manager....
Novell zenworks or NetInstaller are the names that came into my mind.
If a skilled person feeds the database with the msi files and some scripts it runs fine without any physical local admin involved.
BUT NEVER do a automatic update in the test field unless seriously tested and a user confirmation, I have seen long term tests being badly interrupted ....
