How to autostart PXIe-1084 chassis with NI PXIe-8398 together with PC?

Hello,

i have a PXI-1084 chassis connected to my Windows-10-PC using a PXIe-8398 controller.

What do i have to do that the chassis is starting automatically when turning on the PC?

Currently, when i turn on power, only network-leds on the PC are active.

Then i switch on PC but nothing happens at the chassis.

I have to switch on the chassis BEFORE turning on the PC that is is recogniced in MAX.

As i have no access later to the power-button of the chassis i need a solution that it is turning on automatically.

I found this knowledgebase article "Power-Up Options for PXIe Chassis From PC With MXI Express":
https://knowledge.ni.com/KnowledgeArticleDetails?id=kA03q000000YIEECA4&l=de-DE

...but when executing "nidpocfg.exe" as mentioned in Merthod 1 it says: "No supported controllers detected"

Thanks for help

Power-Up Options for PXIe Chassis From PC With MXI Express states that

For 3rd Gen MXIe controllers, the remote power-up option is already enabled by default. This means that there is no need to use the executable to achieve the desired functionality. The wake signal will be automatically sent, and the PXIe MXI card will automatically turn on the chassis when the PC is turned on or vice versa.

Additionally, due to the differences in power requirements between copper and fiber optic MXI Express systems, setups using fiber optic MXI Express cables will not support this power-up option.

PXIe-8398 is a Gen 3 MXIe controller. And make sure you are using copper cable.

It is a copper cable.

Is there a special shutdown order needed that the startup is working?

Currently i shutdown PC (chassis LEDs still on after that) then remove power from chassis from PC and chassis.

Then:

Activate power

Way 1: Turn on PC -> chassis LEDs stay disabled.

or

Way 2: Turn On Chassis, LED is orange. Turn on PC -> LED gets green

The rule is that the PXI chassis should be on when the PC is on. Otherwise, the host PC might go into a BSOD, when the peripheral device (PXI MXI system in this case) is malfunctioning (which includes not powered up).

What's the model of the PCIe controller?

What cable are you using? It sounds like it's a SAS cable instead of a PCIE cable.

With the right cable the chassis will turn on when the host PC turns on (for the 839x series), and it will shut down a few seconds after the PC shuts down.
