Hello all,
I am experiencing the same problem for configuring a desktop PC as an RT target, using LabView Real Time version 8.2.1. I am trying to boot up with the 'Desktop PC Format Hard Drive Disk' created through MAX.
Although the hard drive has been formatted to FAT32, the same message that Solitude said (i.e. "Drive is not FAT16 or FAT32. Please make sure the drive has been formatted before using this floppy.") is issued and the process halts.

I have removed my SATA hard disk, and replaced it with an IDE hard disk.
When I run the "pceval", it recognizes the IDE hard disk.
When I run the "Create Desktop PC Format Hard Drive Disk" utility, the C:\ drive is reformatted. After the message "Reinitializing FAT32 drive... done." appears, I get the following messages:
"Installing hdmon.bin to the hard drive..."
"error opening source file hdmon.bin"
Intermixed throughout this whole process is a message that appears often "Warning KERNEL.346530: Error initializing Floppy drive A:"
I'm using a Kontron SBC CP307, and a USB connected floppy drive.
Any suggestions?

Hi Clint,
Yes, I am still using the 82573L Ethernet chipset. It was my understanding that this chipset is supported in LabVIEW Real-Time 8.2.1. If the 82573L is not supported, when do you expect the release of LabVIEW RT 8.5? I do understand that SATA will not be supported until LabVIEW RT 8.5, and as such we have switched to an IDE hard disk.
I displayed the Partition information on the IDE hard disk. A partition has been setup as the C: drive, active, primary DOS, 10009 Mbytes, FAT32, 13% usage. This is the only partition that has been setup. So when ask the question "do you have the Real-Time partition set to be the first partition and also the Master partition?", what are you really asking?

Hello Solitude,
I just spent two weeks devoted to getting a system up and running in the real-time enviroment.
First off, what ClintM ment by the master and first partition was the physical location of the drive in terms of the IDE cable. The real-time operating system has to be on the first hard drive, or master, and on the first partition of that hard drive. So, basically it has to be the first thing the computer sees.
Second, if you are still getting errors regarding your you FAT 32 PATA Hard Drive, turn off Ultra DMA. The Ultra DMA setting can be turned off in your bios. It is just a type of communication protocol bus used to talk between the RAM and the hard drive. The drive will still work, so don't worry.
Hope this helps.
