Hi all,
We would like to develop Automated MOSFET Transistor Testing using LabVIEW and PXI.
The transistor that we are going to test is IRFU120N (N Channel MOSFET, the datasheet is attached below)
The manual procedure to test MOSFET Transistor that we found on internet (Basic Testing of Semiconductor, in Testing MOSFETs part) are:
We also found the KB on FET Testing from www.ni.com http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/6856
1. The first Test is measuring the parasitic substrate diode that connects the Drain to the Source. In an NMOS part, this diode's cathode will be at the Drain, and the anode at the Source. The MOSFET should show infinite resistance, Gate-Source and Gate-Drain. If it does not, then the transistor may be blown.
2. The second Test can be done by Ohmmeter and 9 Volt DC Souce. Connect Ohmmeter to the Drain and Source, measuring the resistance between Drain and Source, it should be infinity or very high resistance. Connect the 9 Volt across the Gate (+ port) to Source (- port), and the Ohmmeter reading's should fall to a very small resistance.
If these two tests work, then the MOSFET is off to a good start. This is what we understand from our research on the internet.
We would like to know if there are any standard procedures for testing MOSFET Transistor, if there are we have several questions regarding the parameter(s) and procedure(s):
1.What Parameter(s) should we test to check whether the MOSFET Transistor is PASS or FAILED?
2. What is the minimum and maximum value of that Parameter(s)?
3. What is the sequence of testing the Parameter(s). Which Parameter(s) we have to test first and to test at last?
4. What are the NI PXI module(s) that are required to do a complete test on MOSFET Transistor?
Note: Our goal is to make this test system automated.
Your help and advice are highly appreciated.
Thank you
Sincerely
