MXI card 8362 and PXI chassis not recognized in either MAX or Windows Device Manager

Solved!

Hello,

We have a system PXI with PCIe-8362 and PXIe-8360. We change the old computer (old : dell precision 3610 windows 7 / new : dell precision 5860 W11) and the system, which was OK with the old computer, doesn't work with the new computer.

1, The desktop cannot boot with the PCIe-8362 compatibility switch on default position. The LED indicator on PXIe-8362 is solid amber. This seems be Symptom 1 as described in the troubleshooting guide

2, We then flipped the switch 1 on the PCIe-8362 card and installed the MXI compatibility software, now the desktop can boot. The LED indicator on PXIe-8381 is still solid amber.

I can't found the card on the windows peripherique list, I just found a line in max named PCIe-8362...

Could you help us to resolve the problem of card detection?

Thx

Stéphane

Hi Stéphane,

Does the setup still work in the old computer? It sounds like a HW error (since the LED is amber) so I'd look closely at the setup. Particularly the of the troubleshooting guide talking about how the cable can be inserted upside down. Also inspect the connectors on the board side to see if any pins look suspect.

Does your version of PCIe-8362 have LEDs? If so, are they consistent with the PXIe-8360's (amber)?

Hi Robert,

You're right, the PCIe card no longer works on my old PC too. I had another new PCIe-8361 which works fine on the new PC.

Thx
