Hello,
I have formatted my PXI using following guide lines (http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/6B1343F61905203386257051006573CA?OpenDocument) and I am trying to install and configure PXI 8106. I have programmed the PXI using following guide lines (http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/D170D1AF82303EA086256B4200780579?OpenDocument). I can see the PXI on MAX remote systems when I am in safe mode but when I go to Labview RT mode I do not see the PXI in MAX(my laptop local area network shows it as disconnected). So I tried to reformat and installed only ethernet drivers and I can see PXI in both modes on MAX. But as soon as I installed the Labview 8.2.1 RT software I do not see the PXI in max. What am I doing wrong here?
Thanks,
kartik

I would like to add one more thing here. When I configure the PXI network address using IP settings and suggest values I get message "The subnet mask you entered places the target and the gateway in two different subnets, which may make this target partially unconfigurable. Are you sure you want to do this?" My ip address for PC is 192.168.0.76 and PXI is 192.168.0.77 and subnet mask for PC is 255.255.255.0 and for PXI is 255.255.255.0 . I have subnet masks on both the same. I am not sure why I get this message?
Thanks,
kartik

Are you using the Target CD to load LabVIEW RT 8.2.1 on to the PXI 8106. If not, the earliest version that will be supported on the controller is LabVIEW 8.5.0 which would explain your communication issues. Take a quick gander here.
The Target CD has specific configuration files for the specific hardware it was made for and should have come with the hardware.
