PXI-6704 in parallel with resistance measurement

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello,

I am performing two separate circuit analysis procedures. First I want to supply two pins with current and measure the circuit response elsewhere, and second I want to test the unpowered total resistance between those two pins. If I have a PXI-6704 current output wired to the pin pair, and set to 0 Amp output, will it interfere with the measurement of resistance at those pins (as a paralell resistor would) or will it exclude any signals and appear as an open circuit?

I can use the PXI switching to connect and disconnect the DMM for measurement, but the test specifications require no current supplies through the switch.

I do not have the hardware at-hand, I know that would be the quickest test. We are designing the circuit test fixture in parallel with the PXI testing chassis.

Thank you,

Mello

Hi Mello,

So, the output impedance of your card is 1GOhm, so unless what you are measuring is huge, then this shold appear as an open circuit. Hope this helps!
