Hi,
I am using PXIe-1082 chassis with Expresscard-8360. I have four PXI-6713 Modules in the chassis. I do not see the chassis or the modules under the "Devices and Interfaces" in MAX. Expresscard-8360 is recognized and displayed.
I am turning on the computer after the chassis has been powered on with the Expresscard inserted into the computer.
I have NI-DAQmx version 9.5.1 and MAX version 5.6.0
Please help!

Hello nharshiin,
First, could you clarify which version of PXI Platform Services you are using? Further, have you used other chassis with this system before? I see that there are a few more PXI cards being enumerated in MAX without a chassis: how did those get there?
In general, I would recommend that you open a service request with us so that a single engineer can be assigned to the issue and follow up with you for involved troubleshooting, since MAX issues can arise in many different places.
Best,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,
Yes, I have used other chassis before and those are the cards that were previously detected.
I uninstalled DAQmx and upgraded it to v15; the modules are still not detected. Now I have PXI Platform services v15.

Hello nharshiin,
Could you clarify which MXI interface is in the chassis you are using with the ExpressCard-8360? As far as I am aware, 8360 is only compatible with x1 MXI interfaces such as the PXIe-8360. Is this the same exact ExpressCard-MXI configuration you were using with the working chassis? Does the chassis show up in Windows Device Manager? You may need to update the ExpressCard driver. It should appear as PXIe-8360 SMBus Controller, as explained on page B-3 of the ExpressCard MXI Series Manual, linked here:
NI ExpressCard MXI Series Manual

Other things to check would be MXI Express BIOS Compatibility software, discussed in the following article:
Why Doesn't my MXI Controlled PXI Chassis Show Up in MAX?

I would also like to reiterate that, if possible, this issue seems better suited to be handled by a Service Request for more effective troubleshooting.
Best,
Daniel

I am using PIXe-8360 in the chassis. I am using this exact configuration for the other working chassis. The express card shows up on MAX as "NI Expresscard 8360 MXI1".
The confusing thing is that the chassis and the modules are detected by my other computer which has the same installations. My computer detects the other working chassis but not this one.
I will open a service request if thats the better way to troubleshoot this.
Thanks!

Have you used the BIOS compatibility software on other computers with this card? If the card is set to compatibility mode without the software installed then nothing in the chassis will show up. The BIOS compatibility software includes a utility for viewing the current setting of the card.

Hi! Have you checked the services running by going to Start Panel -> Services and checking to see if NI PXI Resource manager is running?
Additionally, there are some issues with certain BIOS and MXI compatibility. Here's a few useful articles on determining if your BIOS is compatible.

Hi,
The PCI/PCI Express bus address range seems to the issue. I disabled and re-enabled the PCI bus in "Device Manager" and that fixed the issue. I can see that all the modules are detected by MAX.
Thanks all for your help!
