Hi, evry!
I've just received PXI-8106 RT controller and wanted, as usual, "clear it up" with Firstware, but...
...have "F4" pressed during bootup - nothing happened!
So... Should there be a Firstware on RT controller?
...Not a word 'bout it in manual, by the by....
Thanx in adv.

Hi,
The PXI-8106 RT doesn't come with Firstware. You can create boot disks (or USB keys) through Measurement and Automation Explorer. Select Tools»RT Disk Utilities and select the option you'd like. The Format Hard Drive Disk utility will give you the option to format the hard drive and put the RT OS back on.

Thank you very much, Caleb.
And...
1. Can Win XP be installed on 8106 RT controller for RT and XP to coexist?
2. Is it possible to install Firstware on 8106 and if yes then how?
Thanx in adv.

Hi Sharonoff,
Dual booting your controller is possible, but it is an unsupported feature. We have a KnowledgeBase article describing how to do it here: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/B106BD4C654F0F2A86256E8E00245C84?OpenDocument . This is a feature that is provided more as a proof of concept and you will have to repartition your hard drive.
To install Phoenix FirstWare, you'll need to purchase a license from them.

...Ah, and one more moment, Caleb.
PXI-8106 controller i've spoken about above came equipped with 2GB of Samsung RAM-memory (2x1GB).
And these banks has no NI catalogue numbers in it's stickers, while... controllers received before (for instance, PXI-8186) has Southland memory WITH catalogue numbers.
What's up with NI catalogue numbers upon memory's stickers?
Thanks in adv.
P.S.: Some NI local representative said it's O'kay 'bout Samsung memory, while i've always seen "NI" memory WITH catalogue numbers before ;).

Hi,
Some of the controllers have different RAM chips. If you pull out the Samsung RAM, you may see a cataloge sticker (depending on which RAM chip is in your controller) on the other side. These aren't NI cataloge numbers, but rather Samsung or Southland.
