PXI-8106 Resource Conflict

Hello everyone, I currently have a PXI-8106 installed in a PXI-1031DC chasis. When turned on the boot process is halted by an error that reads as follows:

ERROR

Resource Conflict - PCI on Motherboard

Bus:0B   Devices:06    Function: 00

When resumed with F1, I receive the following warning:

Found bad pci-pci bridge.

When this PXI-8106 is placed in a PXI-1002 chasis, the boot process proceeds as normal with no errors.

Any ideas as to what would cause this problem

Thank you!

Hey GMI-Brad,

It sounds like there might be a problem with the PXI-1031DC chassis itself. When you boot the controller, do you have anything plugged into the other slots of the PXI-1031DC? If so, try removing them and booting the controller. Do you have any different controllers you could try in the PXI-1031DC chassis? When you power your 1031, does anything abnormal happen (e.g., no fans spinning, etc.)? Also, when you receive this error message, are you able to get past the error and boot into whatever OS is on the controller, or does it not allow you to get past that error?

My original thought was the chasis was bad.

However, when I plug in a PXI 8175 Controller into the chasis, it boots without error.

I originally started with the PXI-1031DC Chasis, PXI 8106 Controller, 6602 Timing I/O Card, and two PXI-7344 Motion Controller Cards.

I received the Bad PCI-PCI Bridge error both on boot up of the controller and during the loading process of the RT 8.2 engine.

I then removed one card at a time until I was left with one prompt regarding a pci problem as opposed to four.

Outside of the error prompts, nothing seems to be abnormal during the boot process.

Everything at that point pointed at a chasis problem until I plugged in a PXI-8175 controller. Everything booted without issue.

However, if I place the mentioned setup in a PXI-1002 chasis, the PXI-8016 boots with no problem.

I'm able to continue on however I cannot confirm at this time whether or not the system is affected by this error or not.

Thanks for the help,

Brad

Hey Brad,

It seems as though neither the controller or chassis can be singled out as the source of the issue. Is the PXI-8175 also an RT controller? When booting the 8175 controller, did you boot it with the other PXI modules inserted into the chassis?

One quick way to see if the system is affected by this error message is by running a Self-Test in Measurement and Automation Explorer for your PXI cards.
