PXI-8108 controller causing DMA failure

Solved!
Go to solution

Eric,

Here is an llb with all of the files you need (most of the files I downloaded from conduant in their example section). When you run the vi it will look for xlrapi.dll which should be in the install directory for the streamstor stuff (c:\program files\streamstor) or wherever you installed it. One more thing that needs to be done is to go into MAX and rename the HSDIO card to Send, otherwise the program will not be able to find the card.

I gave the suspect PXI-8108 to Michael Bryner (our local NI guy). He had also had a PXI-8106 controller that we installed and tried and everything worked OK on it.

Hi Tim,

We think we identified a BIOS workaround for your issue.  Please try the following at your convenience:

1. Reboot PXI-8108.

2. Enter BIOS Setup Utility (press <DEL> during early boot)

3. Navigate to "Advanced>>ExpressCard Configuration" submenu.

4. Highlight "ExpressCard Hot-Plug Resources" and set it to "Disabled".

5. Save settings and reboot (press F10).

6. Re-run test.

Please let us know if this workaround addresses your problem.  We're working on a permanant fix now.  The BIOS setting in question only affects the ability of the OS to hot-plug an ExpressCard device without requiring a reboot of the system, so disabling it shouldn't have any adverse effect for most applications.

Thanks,

Eric Gardiner

Changing the BIOS setting solved the problem for me.

Thanks,
