PXI 8196 - Serial Port Problem ?

I have a third party instrument that we communicate with via PXI 8196 over the serial port. When I use VISA close or close LAbVIEW it closes the serial port, but I lose connection with the instrument. I have to manually reset my instrument to operate again. I used VISA monitor and found that whenever I close the instrument via PXI, it throws a HEX character /x00 which is ascii equivalent of NUL.

I tried doing the same exercise using my PC and I was able to close the instrument and open it via LabVIEW.

Looks like when I close the instrument through PXI, I lose connection. Any thoughts ?

Hi Spartan00,

It appears that this is an issue that National Instruments is aware of and working to correct.  Best of luck with things in the meantime!
