PXI on Wireless LAN

I have a PXI 8106 Controller that communicates with another device using modbus. I am doing modbus over TCP and using an ethernet cable between the two devices. I want to use a wireless connection instead of the ethernet cable. Is there any way to pick up a wireless LAN signal be it by PXI Module or using a USB wireless adapter?

Hi shregor249,

If your using modbus over TCP then is should also work over wireless TCP, our PXI cards don't have wireless built in but you could use a USB wireless adaptor as mentioned, to connect devices through a wireless router.

Sounds like a cool system your building good luck.

Thanks for your reply Scott!

Would I need to purchase a USB wireless adapter with drivers that are compatible with the PharLap OS or whatever RTOS the PXI runs? Do these exist? Would any USB wireless adapter work?

Hey,

Sorry I did not realize you were using RT, I don't know of any wirless USB devices desgined for RT OS, that may be hard/impossible to find. In that case you would have to have your system cabled to the router.
