Hello everyone,
I have no experience with the NI products, never worked on them, so some of the following questions might see stupid, but please just bear with me.
In a couple of months I'll start working on a demonstrator project, where we are trying to put several applications controlling different instruments (with data acquisition and processing) on a PXIe-8133 RT controller (in a PXIe-1802 chassis). Now, one of the requirements is to use an ARINC 653 compliant Real-Time Operating System (RTOS), having a partition for each application to run in, thus protecting one application from the others.
What I've found out till now is that CompactRIO is runs WindRiver's VxWorks, and LabView generates C code that works with VxWorks. Is VxWorks the OS that runs on PXIe-8133?
WindRiver also has a VxWorks 653 platform which is ARINC 653 compliant. Do you know if it's possible to run VxWorks 653 on the before mentioned controller?
At this point the only strong requirement is to use an ARINC 653 compliat RTOS, so the controller choice is not final. Do you know if there are any NI PXI controllers that run any ARINC 653 compliant RTOS? Is it feasible to consider running such a RTOS on a PXI controller?
Any information which could help is appreciated.
Thank you,
Domi

Hi dotadk
You can see a list about what Operating System is installed on which Real-Time controllers here:
The reason for using different Real-Time operating systems on different platforms is also described there but basically it is to get most features out of the processor used.
From the link you can see that your PXIe-8133 runs Pharlap RTOS (now called NI ETS 2011 if you have the lastest version.)
I know National Instruments have products for the ARINC429 and the ARINC664 standard. I would advice you to call a local NI Sales Office to to further discuss the applications and requirements of your project. They will be able to provide you with a lot more details about the solutions for military and aerospace industry.
