PXIe DMM is found in MAX - but, not within the PXI Chassis Tree

I am having trouble installing a  DMM in a PXIe-1085 Chassis....

The DMM, despite my best efforts, refuses to display under the PXI chassis tree in NI-MAX.

I have tried:

1) Removing all other PXI cards in the chassis

2) Installing the DMM in a different PXI slot

3) Installing the DMM in a different PXI chassis (same model)

4) Using a different PXI Remote Control Module

5) Resetting the Configuration Data (via the MAX tools menu)

6) Deleting pxisys.ini and pxiesys.ini files and rebooting

7) Updating NI-VISA (ver 19.1 to 19.5)

😎 Updating NI-DMM (ver 19.1 to ver 19.5)

I'm not sure what else to try.  Has anybody else seen this?

Some more information that may help...

From a fresh reboot... I can:

1) Open NI-MAX (DMM is not found under the PXI chassis)

2) Close NI-MAX

3) From Device Manager, update the DMM driver (Browse my PC for driver > Let me pick from a list > Select NI PXIe-4081 > Select Next)

4) Open NI-MAX (DMM is now located under the PXI chassis as I would expect)

5) Close NI-MAX

6) Reboot the PC

7) Open NI-MAX (DMM is AGAIN not found under the PXI chassis)

It seems the pxiesys.ini file is getting changed on re-boot...
