Hello.
I have a problem in PXI-8351 RAID0 configuration.
I want to configure two 1.5T hard disks to RAID0 when i need to update my hard disk. during the restallation of OS,i press Ctrl+A after system boots up, following the instructions displayed in screen, adding in two disks, and choosing RADI0, after that, the total size of RAID0 is 746G, 1/4 of physical size. After i install the driver that NI provides and finish OS, size of hard disks i can see and use is 746G,too.
I want to know why , what happens to my other nearly 2T? Is there something wrong in my steps?
Here are some information about my 8351: PXI-8351 1U Controller w/MXI-Express 3GHz Dualcore2*400GB RAID0,
S/N Q10329486-E64C5F .
This is emergency, please give me some advise.
Thank you!

Hello,
I have a few questions for you to clarify your original concern. You mentioned that you had a 3GHz Dualcore 2*400GB RAID0. How many hard drives do you have in your system at the moment and how large are each? If you are just using the memory internal to the controller, then there would only be 800GB available (2*400GB) and the 746GB that you are seeing would make more sense. Are you using any external hard drives? Also, can we check what hard drives are showing up in your BIOS and what the size of each one is? Please let me know when you have this information. Unfortunately, I do not have an 8351 in front of me at this time to test further.

ok
here is the situation: i changed the original 2*400G hard disks to other new disks, which have the same size of 1.5T. this means the total size of hard disks in my system is 3T, two hard disk.
i also changed the memory to 2M. i do not use any external hard disks, and if i do not configure the two disks as RAID0, just the normal. they work well and correctly in my OS.
size of two new hard disks i see in BIOS is correct, 1.5T for each.
you can connect me by me e-mail. tigris011979@hotmail.com
thank you.
this is emergency.

Hello, G Lo
The original poster could not connect to this forum now. He asked me to help him provide some more information for you. I hope this would help you position the problem.
Thanks,

Hello.
here i have some other information about my system and steps when i configure RAID0:
First: information about my system:
BIOS: Advanced: Advanced chipset control:
Parallel ATA :enable
Serial ATA : enable
BIOS: main:
SATA port2 : 1500GB SATA1
SATA port4 : 1500GB SATA3
Installed memory: 2048MB
OS: CD i got with the product applied by NI: Re-Installation CD Microsoft Windows XP Professional(English)
W/SP2 For NI Controllers.
Second: steps when i configure RAID0:
step1: insert RAID-8351 driver into a USB flopply disk;
step2: power on 8351 and press ctrl+A ;
step3: choose Array Configuration Utility;
step4: choose Creat Array;
step5: choose exsiting hard disks: SATA1 and SATA3, size of each disk displayedis 1397.26GB;
step6: configure RAID0; strip size 64KB; Create RAID via: No Init;
at this step, the size of RAID0 displayed is 2047.969GB
step7: press Done. then size of RAID0 is different, just 746.6GB
...
so, these are the things i've done , and please check if any error occured.
Thank you!
Best Wishes!

Hello,
I have been looking into this issue further but have not found previous issues that are similar to this one. It seems like you are doing all of the correct steps that are listed in the specifications of the 8351. I did have one question, though. That is, can we check in Windows what the size of each of the hard disks is. Once again, check the size in Windows and not in the BIOS. Try this out with only one of the hard disks installed and then both. I would like to see how windows interprets the size of the hard disks. Please let me know what the result of this test is and I will see if I can find out more on my end as well.

hello.G.Lo.
I did the thing you told me to ,here are the results:
If i configure disks as RAID0, the size of disks in windows is 764.6GB;
If i don't, just use in normal. the size of disks in windows is 3.0T,which is correct.

Hi, G Lo,
Is there a possibility that the BIOS or something else (e.g, a special hardware or software managing RAID array) limits the available size of the hard drive which is configured to RAID 0 mode? Just wonder...Thanks:)
