RT Bios booting Problem

Dear Friends,

I have Old PXI system with Controller PXI 8176. I have installed LVRT 2009 on the controller. It was running perfectly untill today. Today it stopped working. It do not connect with my development Laptop. SO, I could not deploy any code to RT controller. After trying other things for about an hour, I understood what the problem was. When I connected Monitor to PXI controller it showed me "Keyboard not detected" error. When I connected keyboard it worked perfectly.

I set the option to not detect keyboard in BIOS. But next day same problem. I connected monitor and found keyboard error. As, My system is RT Headless controller, I don't won't to connect keyboard and press escape every time.

After googling few hours I found that, this happens because of  BIOS "battery" Drained out.

So, friends is there any method to avoid this error without replacing battery ? I don't wont to add one more issue in my maintanance manual.

Can upgrading BIOS work ?

Regards,

Hitesh Dhola

I have found this in the manual, If it helps...

Require Keyboard to Boot—When Enabled, a missing or
malfunctioning keyboard causes the BIOS to halt with an error. When
Disabled, the BIOS allows booting without a keyboard. If you are
using a USB keyboard, you may attach it at any time during the
powered up state. To use this controller in a “headless” mode, you must
set this option to Disabled. The default value is Enabled.

I want it to be headless.. So, is there any BIOS Update available which has default value as Disabled ?

Have you tried the most recent PXI-8176 BIOS (version 1.81)?
