Did you mean:

The PC does not boot when the PXI-Chassis cable is connected!

I have tried every solution comming from your website.
- With or without the cards.
- By changing the slot of the MXI-3 card.
- Verify the cables.

Well, as soon as the PC see the cable (MXI-PXI) he refused to boot, and the lights of the MXI card are:
The 2 green and the yellow on the left are ON

The PC is a Compaq Deskpro EVO.

OK! I didn't do anything, just wait a couple of hours and now it works again... Why ? I really don't want to know.
I think it's a hard problem, which take me about 2 days!!! and quite for nothing...
I hope NI will be able to correct this in the future version.
And for all the others who will have the same: just be patient!!!

Iolo,

I am glad the system is up and running. To help you out in future installations, I am attaching to this message a text file with the steps I follow to install my MXI-3 extender. I have installed MXI-3 extenders successfully on Windows 2000/98/XP/NT computers. Every time I follow them, my installation goes fine, so I hope it helps.

Also, you might want to check :KnowledgeBase 1NFF457T: Configuring a PXI-1010 or PXI-1011 Chassis. It gives steps to configure a PXI-101x chassis with a MXI-3 extender, but the first steps are the same for any chassis.

Good luck with your application,

I also have same issue as lolo. I have an outside vendor chasis, GeoTest GX7110. I've upgraded the BIO as per support suggestion. I have Intel motherboard D845GBV. Everytime I start the PXI first, my pc hangs and never boots up. I want to follow the step "Copy the "pxisys_nnnn.ini" that corresponds to your chassis ", but since its a outside vendor chasis, I don't know which to choose.

We ran into the same problem on a Dell Optiplex GX110.

Attempted solutions included upgrading BIOS, Windows, and LabView software, plugging the card into a different machine, and rearranging card positions. Those failed.

What _did_ work was to upgrade the MXI-3 software from ver. 1.1 to 1.5, although no one's been able to come up with a good explanation for either the original problem or the solution, since the problem occurred before driver software loaded. Possibly-related problems are an apparent voltage spike & resulting damage to a PXI-6704 module two fiber-optic connections away from the PC, and intermittent failure of the PC to communicate with the MXI-3 controllers. Unplugging & reattaching the fiber optic cable seems to help the last problem; one of ou
r guys thinks this is due to static electricity on the line. (possibly due to the noise spikes.)

So my suggestion - esp. if problem continues or seems similar to above: check for large noise spikes at the hardware outputs (and if you find them, protect your hardware). You also might try re-installing / upgrading the software relevant to your card.

Good luck.

Oops.

I forgot to mention that we had been using the hardware and software happily for about a year before the computer stopped booting.
