The future of optical sensing in NI? (PXIe-4844 and NI-OSI)

According to https://www.ni.com/en/support/documentation/compatibility/17/ni-osi-and-labview-compatibility.html, as of 2017 the latest version of NI-OSI is v2.1, and the latest version of LabVIEW that's supported is 2013. LabVIEW 2014-2016 are not supported at all.

Why is this? Is NI discontinuing the optical sensing line of products?

(I ask because my company started investing in optical sensing R&D a few years ago, and we have just gotten a customer this week who wants to use the PXIe-4844. We need to know if NI plans to support this technology into the future or not.)

OSI 16.0 recently released, LabVIEW 2014-2016 now supported:
