Unable to get synchronization between PXI devices

Adam, thanks for helping us solve this!

Yes, if you have a look into my attachment (the MAX.jpg picture file) in my previous message, you would see that I have been using the latest DAQmx 7.5 and the LV RT 7.1.1 (realtime kernel?)

If it's not too much to ask, but could you set up a system that consist of the 1052 chassis, 8184 controller, the 6251 M-series DAQ and the 6602 counter DAQ?

I'm attaching the counter code for your reference. The controls has been modified accordingly when we have been  testing the code.

Hello!

Can you upload your pxisys.ini file so I can look at it.

Thanks in advance!

All,

I have set up a 1052 chassis with the same software you are using and cannot get the damill2.vi to fail. I am using the same hardware and software versions. A copy of my MAX and the program's front panel is attached. Please take a look and see if anything looks suspicious.

Thanks,

-Adam

Additionally, please try the following and reply back with the results:

Export the trigger to another trigger line
Using a different counter on the 6602

Roger and Damill,

I would like to get each test case that we have tested and validated to date in a single thread. The information provided to date has eliminated nearly all of the possible causes of the failure and I want to ensure we’re not overlooking or misunderstanding  something. Additionally, if you have RMAd the original 1052 chassis, please provide me with the RMA number so I can see the results of the RMA. I recommend that you reply back with the results of each test as you perform them. I have prioritized them by number below.

I have already validated the setup at NI using the same hardware listed below on an 8184RT system and an 8196 controller running Windows XP so we are not looking at a root incompatibility.

For the LabVIEW VI, please use the VI damill2-1.vi attached in the thread above.

Test 1:

Hardware:

8184 RT, PXI-6251 (slot 2), PXI-6602 (slot 3)

Software:

ONLY DAQmx 7.5 and LabVIEW RT 7.1.1.

Use a host that has a fresh install of DAQmx 7.5 and LabVIEW/LabVIEW RT 7.1.1 .

Run damill2-1.vi on the target after setting up the correct board names.

Test using ctr0, ctr1, ctr4 and PXITrig 0,3,5

Test 2:

Hardware:

8176 running Windows 2000, PXI-6251 (slot 2), PXI-6602 (slot 3)

Software:

ONLY DAQmx 7.5 and LabVIEW 7.1.1

Test using ctr0, ctr1, ctr4 and PXITrig 0,3,5

Test 3: Run Test 1 or 2 swapping the PXI 6602 and 6251

Test 4: Run Test 1 and 2 in a PXI 1052 chassis configured as a PXI 1052 chassis

Test 5: Run Test 1 and 2 in a PXI-1000B (or other single segment) chassis configured as PXI 1052 chassis (don’t reconfigure after test 3)

Test 6: Run Test 1 and 2 in a PXI-1000B (or other single segment) chassis configured as the actual chassis

Test 7: Run Test 1 and 2 in a PXI-1052 chassis configured as another chassis (PXI-1031)

We need to verify that the following are not causing the problem:

1052 chassis / trigger lines

Controller

6251

6602

Host software

Driver software

Thank you for your patience on this issue.

In the LabVIEW RT test cases, please boot the RT controller into safe-mode and format the disk before running the test. This will help ensure that we are running from a clean slate.

Thank you

Hello Adam,

Still no luck with the 1052. I tried various counters and all trigger lines. I'm attaching a picture of the modified vi.

Adam,

During my tests I have been formatting the controller, replacing the DAQmx from 7.4, updating the kernel to the latest version, swapping slots, etc, etc! Before I like to spend any more time on debugging, could you test your setup with a _physical_ PXI-8184 or a PXI-8176 together with the PXI-1052. I tried the the counter VI's with the PXI-8184 in a 1000-B chassies, and it worked flawless. I think there is a hardware incompatiblity between the PXI-8184 and the PXI-8176 together with the PXI-1052 chassis and I am reluctant on spending any more time finding the root of the cause until we are speaking the same langugage, that is when we have _exactly_ the same _physical_ hardware setup! Or maybe NI Sweden could send us the controller you are using for test?

Regards

Roger Isaksson, Damill AB

Edit:Adam; I could have some use of a hard drive image from your controller. You could "zip" the required hard drive contents of your 8184 RT controller and attach it here.
