Unique identification for PXI system

Hi,
I am looking for a method to get a unique identification of a PXI system like the serial number or the mac address.
I do not want to get the serial number of any of the I/O cards in the system but of the controller itself.
If this is not possible, is there a way to retrieve the mac address or any other unique information?
I need to have this information available in my application to enable/disable some functions of the application.

Hi ChristianEC,

unfortunately there will be no chance to get the information that you want directly like the serial numbers of your cards.

There might be a chance to get the information via ActiveX and some MAX properties. The idea is to read the information from MAX, but unfortunately I didn't have the time to check this in detail.

Another solution could be to "ping" the PXI-systems from your host computer and to get the information as a result. For sure, this method only works, if your PXI-systems have static IP-adresses.
