Hello everybody,
This post may seem a little bit lazy but I am now working on some projects and I need to gather quick information about a configuration. I have 3 PCI-7358 Motion Controllers and I'm using two of them on a conventional PC with a Microsoft environement. I also have another conventional PC that has LabView RT running on it and it also has PCI motion controller.
Now I'm thinking about changing my configuration such that I'm thinking about procuring one or two NI PXI Controllers using one of them as a host and one of them as a target. Target PXI Controller would be a devoted system that only PCI motion controllers would be working on it. So Question 1: Can I use my PCI Motion Controllers on that system?
Question 2: The PXI Controller assigned as host would be used with different purposes so that I would need to procure different companies' different purpose cards and integrate those cards to this PXI controller. Is it possible? I know that there are different companies contributing to PXI interface and I am curios if NI's PXI Controllers are compatible with those company's products?
And my last question is whether someone could offer me which NI PXI Controllers would be suitable for these purposes?
Thanks for all the responses in advance...

Hi,
You cannot directly use a PCI card in a PXI chassis. Please refer to the following links for adapter information.
Using PCI Boards in a PXI Chassis, or PXI Boards in a PCI Slot
Using PXI Modules in a Compact PCI Chassis and Vice Versa
If the 3rd party cards meet the PXI specifications, they should work in the chassis. Can you please provide me post the model numbers?
Thank you,
