Hi,
I am wondering if it is possible to use my PXI system that has a PXIe-8822 controller as an EtherCAT master.
This knowledgebase article goes through how to use a second ethernet adapter in the controller for an EtherCAT master, but the 8822 has only one ethernet port.
Is there an external ethernet adapter available for PXIe like it is for PCI?
The description here mentions PXI controllers, does that only apply to PXI controllers with more than one ethernet port?
Thank you.
Siva

PXIe-8245 is recommended and tested as EtherCAT master.

Hi ZYOng,
Thank you. A few follow up questions:
- Would the process of configuring one of the ports in the PXIe 8245 as EtherCAT master be the same as described in this article?
- Is it possible to use this EtherCAT master in NI VeriStand? Would I have to write a custom device?
Thank you.
Siva
1. Yes. The Ethernet ports added by PXIe-8245 will be populated in NI MAX.
2. Use Scan Engine and EtherCAT Custom Device. You can download it from VeriStand Custom Devices Download
