Hello,

I guess you have a PC with a MXI-3 board and you are daysi-chaining PXI chassis using more MXI-3 extenders.

A MXI-3 extender is reallly a PCI to PCI bridge. When the PC boots, it sees the PXI chassis as an additional PCI segment. So for the PC, it seems that it suddenly has more PCI slots available.

Each PC will have a definite amount of resources available, and the number of boards that a PC can handle will vary from one computer to another. Because of this, I cannot tell you what is the maximum amount of boards you can use in your PC.

If there are any boards in the first chassis that you are not using, you could try to swap some of the boards in the fourth chassis with some of the boards in the first ones.

Hope this helps,
