No, the PXI-6711 is designed (mechanically) to go into a 3U PXI/CompactPCI chassis. If you look at the board itself you will see that the edge connector is on the back of the board. All PCI cards will have their edge connectors on the bottom of the board.
If you need to do a permanent swap, you could contact NI and look to trade the board in for a PCI-6711. Otherwise you will have to purchase an additional PCI-6711 for your desktop computer.
On the bright side, there should be no reason to make any software changes in order to get you application running on the desktop computer (provided the same OS is being used - even if it isn't, you may find that little if any work is required - largely dependent on the programming language)
