create VISA driver

I have purchased a PXI-6682 which works with LabVIEW and Windows XP but not LabVIEW RT.  I would like to create a VISA driver so that it can run in LabVIEW RT.  Has anyone already created one?  Given the installation issues with NI-Sync and LabVIEW 8.6, is there better way to get this card to work with LabVIEW RT?

Hey Faustina,

The PXI-6682 and PCI-1588 are not supported under LabVIEW RT or Microsoft Windows Vista x64. The NI-Sync 3.0 Release Notes contains a list of National Instruments PXI timing and synchronization products that are compatible with LabVIEW RT and Windows Vista x64. This list includes the PXI-6651, PXI-6652, PXI-6653, and PXIe-6672.

Thank you,

Ryan

Hello Ryan the National Instruments Applications Engineer.

Some time those at NI just don't get it.  NI needs to support the PXI-6682 on LabVIEW RT.

Ryan, it would be reassureing if you could make some type of statement as to when and under what versions of LV and RT and SYNC it will be supported.

For example, Ryan could have state that

"The PXI-6682 will be supported in NI-SYNC 3.1.0 and LabVIEW 8.6.1 and DAQmx 8.9.

It is expected that these versions are to be released in the 1st quarter of 2009."

Go ahead Ryan.  Make that statement.  Make my day.

Kevin.

according to Sarah Schlonsky (also an applications engineer at NI) there is a beta version on NI-Sync available http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/8340 and there will be a beta version of the driver for the PXI-6682 in a couple of weeks.  Anyone have an update?

Hello Kevin and Faustina,

As Sarah mentioned, the NI-Sync 3.1 Beta Program is available now for download. We invite you to participate in this Beta program and provide feedback. At this time, we plan to provide fully support release candidate versions of these features in late 2009. Between now and the final release, there may be additional Betas offered here to incrementally improve these features as well as add additional features. By participating and providing feedback during the Beta program you will have the ability to influence the final version of the driver. I apologize for not mentioning this Beta Program in my earlier post, but it was still in the development stages.

Thank you,

Ryan
