lose one line of diff pair, 422 work? pxi8421/1

If I loose 1 line of a RS-422 pair from the PXI-8421/8 will it still work even on occassion? Connecting to a 26CT31 driver or 26CT32 reciever?

Hi TSENG,

That may work intermittently. That's a strong possibility. It's definately not going to work flawlessly, but it could occasionally send the correct data or receive the correct data.

What happened to the connector for this? Did you break a pin or something?

I'm developing a test system and my customer wants to make sure that if they loose one side of the differential pair the test system will catch it.

He will be able to see if a break has occured if hand-shacking is enabled. If it's not enabled, then the serial port will continue to try to send data regardless.
