That may work intermittently. That's a strong possibility. It's
definately not going to work flawlessly, but it could occasionally send
the correct data or receive the correct data.
What happened to the connector for this? Did you break a pin or something?

He will be able to see if a break has occured if hand-shacking is
enabled. If it's not enabled, then the serial port will continue to try
to send data regardless.
