remote system: what is it?

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi,

I have a number of boards in a PXI rack (6602, 6734, 6052E, 7813R, etc) connected to a lab computer. I have wondered for quite some time whether I could "export" those boards such that I could control them over Internet (from my office desktop, say). Not via a web interface (which I may try when I receive LV 8.6 - I am currently using 8.5.1), but using the MAX option of accessing "remote systems". I am confused though as of what qualifies as such: is this limited to real-time boards with onboard CPU?

Thanks in advance for any hints, links, explanations that would get me started.

X.

Hello Xavier,

You are correct in your assumption that Remote Systems refer to real-time targets and not to other systems in general.  As far as controlling your devices remotely you can either use, as you mentioned, a web interface, or you could set up a client application where everything is controlled through the use of global variables. This would be inferior to the use of a web interface, but with some work could give you a great deal of functionality.
