run time error cRIO

Hi,

I am getting a strange run-time error when deploying my RT vi to cRIO 9074,  see the attched for more details, here are  some of the SW that I have in my host PC and RT target ( there are more that are not listed):

PC                                                     cRIO 9074

Windows xp                                        Labview RT 10.0

Labview 2010 and Real-Time 10.0.0       NI-VISA 5.0

Labview Run-Time 2010 SP1                 NI-RIO 3.5.1

NI-RIO 3.5.1

my entire labview program crashes after receiving the error and I do not have any fix for it. Does any one know the root cause of this error?

Thanks,

Hi Shimbloo,

That is an odd error that doesn't give much information on why LabVIEW is crashing.  There are many possibilities for this error: corrupted LabVIEW, corrupted LVRT,corrupted drivers...

The first thing that we can try is to update your drivers to the newest version.  Let's try the following:

VISA 5.0.3 http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/2251/lang/en

RIO 3.6.1 http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/2411/lang/en

Hi Che,

Thanks for the reply , I upgraded to RIO 3.6.1 ( I already had VISA 5.0.3 in my host PC), but the run time error is still there . the attached shows more details of what I am geting after traying to connect RT via LabVIEW .

here is more backgrond on this issue:

I have been doing several upgrades uninstall/reinstall even one time format the PC, but the error goes away for a while and comes back agine! so  I am not able to reproduce the fault in a consistent manner, yesterday I was advised to upgarde my C++ visual time from "http://support.microsoft.com/kb/259403" so I uplodaed 2010 dll files in system32 folder and it wokred fine till today that crashed again. is there any way that we can narrow down the scope of the root cause to Windows/ LVRT or drivers?

Thank you.

Hi shimbloo,

Thank you for the screenshot.  I looked up the dll, and it seems to be linked to Babylon Translation

http://www.processlibrary.com/directory/files/captlib/327263/

Do you have this application installed?  It's possible that this application is trying to translate text, but for some reason it's interfering with LabVIEW, and it's crashing the program.

Hi, i have the same error occuring as in the first post on a cRio 9012. I have tried the fixes mentioned above but with no luck. the only difference is that in my case the problem is not intermittent. Any thoughts, ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

        Cheers

Hi LD92,

How recently have you been seeing this error?  What's changed from it working and not working?

Hi Che,

It was originally programmed on labview 8.5 or 8.6 a couple of years ago but recently we needed to make a change to the software, the change was made in labview 2010 and we tried to update the cRio using 2010, this is when the error occurs. We have also tried installing the software using an old laptop that still has labview 8.6 on it, when trying to deploy labview doesn't crash but the download still fails (This may be because the code wouldn't compile properly on 8.6.)

                     Cheers

Hi LD92,

It is worth a try to create a new, simple project and try to deploy the code.  This can help us pinpoint whether or not it is tied to the specific VI/projects, or if it may be the development environment.

Cheers Che,

I have been working on it but only on and off due to other priorities. Have now tried reformatting the original CRio and reloading the real time software (V3.6.1) now when trying to deploy labview crashes without any error message.Smiley Sad i have also tried the same thing on an identical unit on my desktop. I have also written a small test VI in a new project to see if the problem is in our code but the same problem happens again, so now i have eliminated the CRio and software on it, the laptop (We have tried 2 different ones) and the real time application itself. I am going to try loading a new project using LV 8.6 and see if that works but otherwise i'm stumped.

Hi LD92,

Thank you for the update.  It really seems like this error is happening due to the LabVIEW software.  It may be corrupted.  I would recommend reinstalling LabVIEW, but from a different media source.  You can download a new version of LV2010 and LV2010 Real-Time at the following link: http://www.ni.com/src

Please keep me updated.  This is an odd error, but it is likely due to corruption.
