What is a squelch? What are the applications of squelch?

Hi ne,

Squelch is the minimum voltage that enables or disables the output of the receiver. Carrier squelch and Noise squelch are two types of squelchs. Consider a receiver with these two feautres enabled. We can get the output from the receiver when carrier frequency amplitude is above the thresold level and noise level is below the thresold level. Two discrete lines will be available in the receiver. If the carrier frequency amplitude is above the minimum thresold level the carrier squelch line is enabled thereby enables the receiver output. If the noise level is above the minimum thresold level the Noise squelch line is enabled thereby disables the receiver output.

Hope this answers your question!

Regards,

Rajesh.
