This did the trick...no more outputs on after reboot.
Thanks for all your help and sticking with me through the whole process.

Great,
Glad to hear that was it. Let us know if you need any help. Other employees monitor the forums besides me so if you have any issues feel free to post. One of us will reply. I usually get busy with other issues so I may not always reply but someone is always here to help.

I have a computer that run Labview 2015 SP1 and the cRIO-FRC2 show up in the project explorer and I can program it. I don't remember if I did something special ..
With my laptop that run LabVIEW 2016, it doesn't show up. What can I do to see it under the labview project.
I can't add it in MAX, is say I don't have the drivers...
Let me know if you can help, that is appreciated

Patrick,
Typically, when you have a new question, you'll want to create a new thread rather than trying to revive one that is several years old. It's not likely that anyone involved in the previous discussion will reply, and it doesn't necessarily sound like you are having the same issue as the previous discussion.
To help with your question, what are you trying to do with your cRIO? Are you trying to program it with FRC software? If so, you'll need to reimage it for 2016 through the Utilities tab in LabVIEW. You'll also want to check that you have the RIO driver installed. You can do this through Programs and Features >> National Instruments and seeing if you have NI RIO 16.0. Giving more of a description of what you're trying to do will help others help you more 🙂
Thanks,
aprillest

Hi,
Thanks for the suggestion. I will post a new thread next time.
I don't use FRC software. I use labview, rt, fpga module.
I'm able to use the cRIO-FRC2 on my computer running labview 2015. I can add it to a project....
I just can't add it to a project with my laptop running 2016 which work with all other cRIO device.
I have the NI RIO 16.0 installed.
Thank you.

How is your FRC2 connected to your laptop and does it show up in NI MAX? Do you have LabVIEW Real-Time and LabVIEW FPGA 2016 on your laptop?

Yes, RT and FPGA are installed and working well with other devices.
NI MAX doesnt show the cRIO-FRC2 automatically but if I add it manually with the FRC2 IP, it detect the serial number and the name of it but I can't add it because the drivers are not installed.
thanks for helping.

There's a few things I'd want to take a look at.
First, for documentation's sake I'd point out the last year FRC used the cRIO was 2014. As a result, the 2014 FRC software set is the one best suited to work with the FRC cRIOs.
Second, the update you're trying to do is something to get around things put into place to ensure the devices remained with a FRC team. Keep in mind the FRC cRIOs were either donated to these teams or sold at a fraction of their cost if they wanted to have a second device. They weren't meant to make their way outside of this context so it's not surprising there's some trouble getting it to work outside of that context. I've heard of it being done successfully. But, I'm not sure it's appropriate to ask the NI community for help to hack around the BIOS put in place to ensure teams kept their cRIOs instead of having them acquired for other uses.
I have looked through this thread and I'd agree with the first response you received. You're not discussing the same issue as the original poster. It's generally poor forum etiquette to hijack another thread, even if the thread is ancient, to bring up a different issue. You're also posting to a forum where the typical user won't have any experience with the FRC hardware. If you'd like to continue this discussion, your best bet is to post here: http://forums.ni.com/t5/FIRST-Robotics-Competition/bd-p/1014 That's a forums specifically for FRC and I'd expect you'd find more users that have attempted what you're attempting now. You also might consider taking a look at https://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/portal.php as that's a site dedicated to FRC. I'd be surprised if nobody on those forums had attempted to do what you're doing.

I bought that device on ebay and that was for a learning purpose.
This bought helped me learn and now I bought different hardware to NI, I don't use that device for any business thing.
Overall that was a good thing for NI and me. I was just wondering why I can't see it in 2016. I don't want to hack anything or hijack anything. The beginning of thread was really similar to my question.
thanks for redirecting

I'd be surprised if your intents were nefarious. It just seemed a bit strange.
When you create your thread, I'd focus on something that came up in your most recent reply. If buying this device helped you learn, that implies it was working at one point and now is no longer working. That's a much different problem than it never worked. You'll want to post this kind of information as well as what changed in the system between when it was working and when it wasn't. Did the PCs change? Did you install new software? New OS? Are you connecting in a different way?
To be fair, the beginning of the thread was a discussion of why specific I/O ports were showing high when the user didn't expect them. Yours is about being unable to see the device at all. Those are very different. That's why there's a bit of pushback when trying to join them into the same conversation.
Hopefully the more focused attention from the FRC specific forums will help you get back to a working state.
