Can I connect two CompactRIOs together using the built in serial port

basically I will have one CompactRIO in an enclosure that is floated up to high voltage (the communications will come in via fiberoptics that are locally connected to the compactRIO via RS232).  The second will be available to communicate to a terminal computer via the ethernet cable connection.  But the second CompactRIO needs to be able to control the first one.  This is somewhat of a daisy chain situation.

This is what it will look like:

Joe hello.

It is definitely possible to daisy chain two compact RIO systems, but this is highly dependent on what you are trying to do. You want to have one compact RIO control another. What exactly do you mean by control? Do you want the application running on cRIO A to control a VI or modules in cRIO B? Will the enclosed cRIO have any modules? What will it be doing? What will the other cRIO be doing?

If you shed a little more light on the scope of the application, then we will be able to give you a better answer. However, in order to answer the question you have posed, it is definitely possible to configure your cRIO setup the way you have written. With the exception of you explaining a little more what you mean by one cRIO controlling another, everything looks good.
