Can I send multiple 24V signals to a 9205 analog input module?

Solved!

I have a few 24V on/off signals that I want to log.  Can I send them to a 9205 analog input module?  I know the module is a +/- 10V, so the signals would clip around 10V (which is fine for what I need).  However I don't know if the overvoltage protection is adequate.  The manual says the 9205 module can take up to 30V, but on one page it says "one channel only".

Can I hook up 6 channels that might have 24V on them to the 9205 module, or will it damage the module?

Hi David,

This is Alexander M with National Instruments.  I would not recommend exceeding the nominal range for the Analog input.  The built in +/-30V overvoltage protection is, well, protection in the event the the input voltage exceeded +/-10V.  Repeatedly inputting a voltage close to the overvoltage protection could damage the devise.  Depending upon what your design considerations are, you may consider purchasing a new module that can handle the voltage, or using a transistor style voltage regulator to drop your logic voltage from 24V to 5V or 10V.

Alexander M
