Can't get the FPGA vi to compile. Tried KB fix to no avail.

I have Vista, UAC is turned off.  I had no trouble installing any of the products.  When I compile an FPGA I get through the initialization phase, then the compliling phase starts.  The sceen flickers once or twice, then I get the following error:

Error starting compile step: Check compiler path setting in the Configure Server dialog. Make sure a compatible version of Xilinx software is installed in the specified location.

The path is correct.  I have write access to the temp server and client folders.  I have tried changing to a different port (consistent for both client side and server side).  The firewall isn't blocking it.  I tried running the fix listedin the KB.  Running FixTList.vi produced a nice list of running processes, so I don't think the registry is corrupt.

Any ideas?

Hi surplus_wit,

Thank you for posting to the NI Discussion Forum. You mentioned that you have UAC turned off. Does that mean that you have full administrative privileges? Can you save files to the C: Drive? Also, what version of Vista do you have (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, etc.)? You mentioned that your firewall isn't blocking it. Does that mean that you've disabled your firewall or have you added an exception to the port that is specified in the configuration of the Compile Server? Do you have any antivirus software or other software that may be blocking TCP ports? I believe this is the KnowledgeBase you mentioned in the title. What are the Boolean indications after you run this VI? Thanks and I look forward to hearing back from you!

Hi Mike,

I am running Home Premium.  I have full administrative priveledges.  I have an exception in the firewall for the specified port, but I have had the same results with the firewall turned off.  I have tried it with and without the antivirus enabled (Avast 4).  The reason I say that the fireawall is not blocking it is because the files are successfully transferred from the client to the compile server.

You are correct in which Knowledge Base article I tried.  When running FixTList, all of the booleans are true.  Disable Registry deleted is true.  I have a perflib registry key, which is displayed.  I also get a Tlist returned, which is displayed nicely.  No errors.  I have attached the returned Tlist.

It seems like the server is not handing off to the Xilinx compiler somehow.

Thanks for any help.

Hi surplus_wit,

One thing that would be very useful is if you could get a second Vista machine to install the compile server on and see if you can remote compile. This would allow us to see if this is a machine specific problem. I understand that you have a service request number open on this issue. I will continue to work with R&D and the Applications Engineer that has contacted you to resolve this issue. For faster response, I suggest using your service request for this issue, but please remember to post on the forum any solution you may find. Thanks surplus_wit and have a great day!
