Compact Rio Module for serial input

Hi,

I have a cRio 9002. I use some sensors with serial ouput. I'm looking for a module that support a few digital inputs.

I have 2 sensors with one digital output or 4 analog outputs, and 3 sensors with one digital output or 2 analog outputs. I have also many sensors with analog outputs. I need too much analog channels for my cRIO 9002 with a 8-slot chasis.

Hi Daniel,

The NI-9401 module supports 8 digital bidirectional lines.  Sounds like it would work our for you.  You will need to implement the data parsing and interpretation protocols for serial communication on the FPGA.  If the sensors speak RS232, here are some example programs for implementing RS232 in LabVIEW FPGA.  If I am visualizing your system correctly, this module will then receive data from 14 of your sensors (on 5 digital lines), leaving the remaining seven slots of your chassis for analog input modules.

Cheers,
