Connectors used to connect the CRIO controllers to the FPGA chassis

I would like to build a (short) extension cable to go from a CRIO-9013 controller to a cRIO-9103 chassis and need to know what connectors these use and where to get them.

thankyou

I don't beleive we can give that information, but I will check with R&D for you.

not to worry,  I'll look at other hardware options

thanks for answering

AgB2,

Can you describe the use case of your application and why you need the separation of the controller and chassis and we may be able to recommend other options.

Using an extension between controller and chassis is really not feasible due to signal integrity of the high speed bus that is implemented between these two components. Most likely by adding an additional connector junction and increasing the signal path length you would no longer be able to reliably communicate between chassi and controller. You may want to contact your local NI representative (field sales engineer) if you would like to to further investigate this option.

thanks Christian,

the application isn't complex or permanent so I'm trying some alternative hardware (I was just hoping to take a shortcut and reuse the cRIO/LabView solution I already have, but as you say it might prove rather unreliable).

cheers

As Christian said, you are likely to see issues with such a setup. Which compactRIO/chassis do you currently have? Is it due to tight space restrictions that you were looking for an alternative to connecting the controller and chassis directly? Or were you thinking of connecting the controller to something other than a cRIO chassis?

Hi Anna,

I was intending to mount the fpga at right angles to the controller using a right angle connection. I have found alternative hardware now so not to worry.

thanks
