Creating a CANOpen library from NI embedded CAN for RIO library

I need to implement CANOpen communciation between my sbRIO and Elmo motion Controller and I need to use the embedded CAN for RIO library to implement this as for the CANOpen library a NI 9881 card is needed and it has no free slot on my sbRIO. I just wanted to know how difficult it would be to implement the CANOpen communication by just using the embedded CAN for RIO library for some one who only worked with CANBUS before or if it is possible at all.
