Does LabViewRT suppoet a PCI-DIO-96?

I am running RealTime LabView (ETS) on a DELL 8300 and I am trying to acquire digital data from a PCI-DIO-96 card.  The card works in XP with LabView 7.1.1 of course, but not in LabViewRT 7.1.1 on my system running ETS.  I have dried using the PXI-6508 driver for the PCI-DIO-96 card in XP with LabView, and it works.  However when I boot into real time, the PXI-6508 driver seems to be ignored and the card gets recongnized as a PCI-DIO-96 card again, which is what it actually is.  By the way, MAX is able to provide working Test Panels for the card using either driver in real time.  MAX is also able to make DAQmx tasks using the PCI-DIO-96 card, and also provide Test Panels for the DAQmx tasks that function properly when the system is running real time.  But they just wont work in a VI running in LabViewRT.

Is it possible to have LabViewRT use the PXI-6508 driver for the PCI-DIO-96 card?

Is there something else that I can do to make my PCI-DIO-96 cards in work in LabViewRT?

Thanks, Kevin.

Hi Kevin,

The PCI-DIO-96 is supported by DAQmx 7.4 so it is also supported in LabVIEW Real-Time.  I am not sure what you are talking about when you make the distinction between drivers for the PCI-DIO-96 and the PXI-6508 because not only are they the same piece of hardware, but also they both use the same driver (DAQmx 7.4).  I am guessing that you might have an older version of the NI-DAQ driver (Traditional) for the PCI-DIO-96 and then the new NI-DAQ driver (DAQmx) for the PXI-6508.  You should be using the latest NI-DAQ driver which is DAQmx 7.4 - make sure your RT target and your host PC are both using the latest driver.

If the PCI-DIO-96 shows up as a PCI-6508 in MAX that should be OK because they are the same product.  PCI-DIO-96 is the legacy board and we changed the nomenclature to be consistent with the rest of our products.

If the board functions properly in MAX then there should not be any issues with it working with LabVIEW RT.  Please provide me with a detailed description of what your program does, what DAQmx VI's you are using, what error messages you are getting, and any other useful information.  First off make sure you have all the latetest software on both your host and target:

LabVIEW Rt 7.1.1

DAQmx 7.4

NI-VISA 3.3
