Excitation of Pressure Transducer using Voltage Module NI-9201

Hello, I hope everyone is healthy and well. I am a beginner in designing measurement systems. I am trying to measure the pressure, temperature and flow of a liquid that is flowing through a pipeline. There will be a pump in the circuit and maximum pressure in system will be 15 bar. 

 

I am using Honeywell MIP Series Pressure Transducer has a linear relationship between measured pressure and output voltage. The output voltage of sensor is between 0.5V and 4.5V. This sensor must be excited by 5V. Since I need to read the voltage measurement, I am planning to use NI-9201. Does this voltage input module have a capability of exciting the specified pressure transducer?

I've ony done a quick look, so do check to confirm before doing anything:

  • The term "excitation" voltage, usually implies a sesnsor with some sort of bridge arrangement, but looking at the MIP datasheet it just looks like the 5VDC is just a regular power supply to the sensor.
  • You can use the NI-9201 for the pressure signal connection, but it cannot provide the power supply to the sensor and you will need to provide that externally to the IO module.
  • There are some AI modules that can provide power supply lines to sensors, but they tend to be the AI current modules for 4-20mA signals.
