We are building an OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) system.
We currently have the following equipment:
NI Motion: PCI 7342
DAQ: PCI 6221
IMAQ: PCI-1428
2 Cambridge Technology MicroMax 671 Single Axis Driver Electronics
that are controlling 2 Cambridge Technology 6215H motors
The motors are controlling mirrors, which direct a laser. We need to synchronize
the framegrabber with the motion of the motors as best we can. We will be
taking a lot of images in a very small amount of time. Our application (and
equipment) is quite similar to this
setup.
Currently we have the motors hooked into the MicroMax 671's, which are then
hooked into the NI motion controller. However, we do not have feedback on the
NI motion controller card (I believe this is because of the MicroMax
cards). Because of this, we cannot use breakpoints to synchronize the
motion with the IMAQ - so we are doing it with software, which introduces too
much lag. Also, we are not currently using the DAQ card.
Reading the setup linked above, they do not seem to use an NI motion controller
at all. Is this feasible with our equipment, and would it be the best way?
If not, could someone suggest the optimal connections and methods of synchronization?
Thanks,
Peter
