How to run dialog VIs on a RT Target

I'm new to the labview Real Time programming.  I'm having trouble trying to get the "read spreadsheet" vi to work with it.  I need it to prompt the user to select the file but when I run the VI under the real time target I get "Error 43: User canceled the operation".  I've tried using the RT communication tool to convert the VI into a RT VI but this still doesn't work.  I'm running Labview 7.1 along with the Real Time module.  I know this probably has a simple solution but I just don't have enough experiance using the RT system and no one here at work does either.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Acually, I think the "list directory.vi" is not available in Version 8.0.

So I would be really grateful, if anybody could help me with the same problem: I get error 43, when I run my VI in real-time. Without real-time, the error 43 doesn't appear.
