Improper Installation Message Persisting

Hello,

I am having some issues with my cRIO 9074. I am using MAX 4.6.2 to communicate with my cRIO and am finding it impossible to install any software on the device without recieving the "Safe Mode (Improper Installation)" message. I frequently have problems with this particular cRIO and have to reformat it and reinstall software. In the past, this has always fixed the problem, but now I can't get out of the safe mode. I have confirmed that my versions of Labview Real-Time 4.7.0 and NI-RIO 3.4.0 are working (I ran the software repair on them), so I am confindent that my host computer is working properly. Could this be the issues that I've had with this cRIO worsening? I would appreciate any suggestions to get this funcitioning again because I work in a lab and need this cRIO in order to run an experiement hopefully before a big conference in a couple of weeks. Thanks in advance.

Hey PCXplasma,

This is documented for older versions of MAX and RIO on some KnowledgeBase articles on our site. We have fixed these issues in more recently released version of MAX and RIO. If you can update, I would suggest that, if not, the following couple articles may be really helpful for you.

Improper Installation Message on CompactRIO

Why is my CompactRIO (cRIO) System State: Connected - Safe Mode (Improper Installation)?

Hope this helps!

Hi,

Thanks for replying to my question. I have looked over both of those pages. Even after a full reformat of the cRIO, I still have the improper installation message. Could this be the corrupted bootline? Thanks.

Hi PCXplasma,

Can you try installing NI RIO 14.0?
