Installing Real Time on an Adlink PXI-3800

I am trying to install Real Time on a Adlink PXI-3800 using a USB thumb drive. I have checked and I am able to boot from a USB thumb drive or a USB CD-ROM. However when I use MAX to format and select "Create Desktop PC Utility USB Drive" I am no longer able to boot my system. I have tried several different times and I am still unable to install Real Time on this device. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi ajoos,

Have you checked the BIOS to ensure the USB drive is booting as an FDD and not an HDD?  The USB Utility will work if the controller is set to boot a USB-FDD.

Because this is a third party controller, I'm not sure if LabVIEW Real-Time is guaranteed to work.  It should at least meet the Desktop PC specs:  http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/8239?OpenDocument

Also, make sure that the PXI controller shows up as PXI and not a desktop pc in MAX.  If the controller is displayed as a desktop pc, it will not give you access to the same timing lines as a PXI controller would.

In general, your best bet is to use NI PXI controllers, which you can purchase with Real-Time preinstalled and are guaranteed to give you the same access to the timing, lines, etc.
