I have used Labview RT before and I am now looking to use it on a mobile platform. Since it will not make sense to tether the real time target to the host pc with an ethernet cable, I was wondering if it would be possible to use a usb or pci wireless ethernet card to establish communication.
Thanks,

Eric,
You didn't describe the particular hardware platform you plan on using for your LV RT target, but in general, yes, you can use a wireless conneciton between the host and RT target.
Which RT target are you planning on using? You'll need to make sure that LV RT support your wireless device or use an external wireless access point connected to a wired network interface on the RT target.

I don't actually have a platform yet. I'm trying to spec one out. It needs to be small and low power so I'm looking at mini itx motherboards. Most of these boards don't seem to have compatible ethernet connections though. If it is possible to use a USB wireless adapter, that would make everything a whole lot simpler. Is there a USB wireless adapter you could reccomend that would work with Labview RT?

In order to have a PC work with LabVIEW Real Time you need to make sure that it follows certain specifications. The links provided first talk about the steps need to have to convert a PC to a RT Target and the second link is the hardware list of compatibility for LVRT. As far as the wireless connectivity, if the USB driver works with a Real Time OS, than you just might be in luck, but it's a driver thing. I hope this helps!

There don't seem to be many motherboards out there with compatible ethernet chipsets. I found this one:
http://www.intel.com/products/desktop/motherboards/DG45FC/DG45FC-overview.htm
It has a Intel 82567LF Gigabit Ethernet Controller. I'm not sure if this is compatible with Labview RTOS. If it is I think it would probably be easier to just hook up an external wireless access point through an ethernet cable to this and run it that way. Is this a compatible ethernet chipset? Does this sound like a viable solution?
Also, the board has a PCI express slot. Would this work with Labview RTOS?

That particular ethernet card has not been tested, so there is no guarantee that ethernet chip will work. As for PCIe, as long as it matches with a supported chipset, you shouldn't have any problems.

i need to acess labview with micro processor of any kind by using wireless connection....is it possible????
